Comparing Iphone 4 With The Htc Evo 4G

The smartphone industry is on the rise featuring high quality calls and superb multimedia characteristics all in one device. Two of the leader companies, Apple and Sprint, have sharpened their knives producing two of the most popular and innovative devices. Since its official release in June 4, 2010, the HTC EVO 4G has been characterized as a true iPhone killer. But that was before Apples official presentation of the iPhone4. The gloves are off and the battle has just begun.

1. Display

The HTC EVO 4G features a massive 4.3wide screen multitouch display. Its powerful OS and QSD8650 1GHz Snapdragon CPU enables you to watch videos, movies and photos in High Definition analysis. Even the web browsing experience is enhanced as its 800x480 pixel resolution allows you to zoom texts without blurring. Moreover, email and text messaging is easier than ever; the HTC EVO 4G offers large character boxes minimizing effectively typos.

But Apple has the last word. Even though the iPhone retains screen size to 3.5, it now features an upgraded resolution analysis up to 960 x 640 (326 pixels per inch) and a contrast ratio of 800:1. The smaller screen size combined with the enhanced analysis delivers an unforgettable experience. Additionally, the Virtual Retinal Display (VRD) technology offers clear images, texts and video browsing eliminating pixels. Furthermore, Apple is the first manufacturer company integrating the IPS technology (previously featured in iPad) into a smartphone. With IPS, you can now view crystal clear images at any angle without blurring and shadows.

2. Processor

Both devices feature a powerful processor allowing multitasking without freezing or slowing down their overall performance. The iPhone4 has the same 1GHz Apple A4 chip as the iPad for enhanced capabilities such as multitasking, FaceTime, gaming, web browsing, video and photo editing. The A4 chip also significantly increases battery time up to 7 hours talk time and 6 hours of web browsing and multimedia applications. The HTC EVO 4G dominate QSD8650 1GHz Snapdragon CPU also offers the ultimate quality performance and reliability. Multitasking is available and web pages are loading faster than in any other smartphone. The HTC talk time is estimated to 6 hours and 5.5 on 4G.

3. Operating System

Apple iOS4 is a killing update so far. Able to support multitasking, wallpapers, folders for your apps, iMovie video editing software, gyroscope, accelerometer, iBooks, iAds, enhanced Mail app and FaceTime boosts the iPhone4s overall performance to the limits. Nevertheless, the Android OS running into HTC EVO 4G features too multitasking, fast web browsing, folders, wallpapers, various mail apps, accelerometerand so on but also allows installation of third-party apps without needing to jailbreak it thus voiding its warranty. Many users love this freedom but, on the other hand, Apple offers more than 225,000 apps in the iTunes store.

4. Camera

Apple finally integrated High Definition video shooting in its new smartphone. With two cameras, a 5 MP camera with a LED flash and autofocus on the back and a VGA one on the front, you can now capture High Definition photos and videos while boosting video chat experience. Moreover, the built-in Flash gives you the chance to take the best quality pictures even in low-light conditions.

Sprint in contrast comes to dominate in the camera battle featuring an 8MP primary camera with flash and autofocus and a secondary 1.3 MP on the front ideal for video chat and self-portraits. In addition, its dual LED flash (than the iPhone4s single LED flash) makes it powerful in low-light shooting.

When it comes to video shooting, both phones support 720p High Definition video recording. Their main difference is that Apple supports up to 30 frames per second while Sprint 25 frames per second.

5. Connectivity

The HTC EVO 4G is the first phone globally integrating 4G technology. Nothing beats HTC when it comes to internet speeds. Even though 4G Network is currently available only to 30 cities in US, it still is the future with many more cities following. Uploading and downloading is now available in light speed. Tap it and enjoy it! Even your home connection will seem like a thing from the past after that! And for those who still cannot enjoy 4G, the HTC can also work in 3G without losing any of its performance and stability. Apples iPhone4 does not support 4G network but only 3G and WiFi.

In video conference, HTC is the winner again. Using 3G or 4G network, HTC users can enjoy high quality video calls through its free app. Alternatively, there is also available the Qik app($5) for enhanced video chat experience. Conversely, iPhone4 supports only WiFi for video calls without being able to effectively reduce connectivity problems.

6. Storage

Even though Apple has chosen not to support a microSD expansion slot, it is still the winner as it offers the same storage as the HTC without extra cost. Specifically, iPhone4 costs $200 and offers a 16GB internal memory while the 32GB version costs $300. HTC on the hand costs $200 offering a free 8GB microSD card but demands at least $200 more for a 32 one.

7. Other Features

- The HTC EVO supports HDMI connection via the mini HDMI port on the bottom while iPhone4 does not.

- The HTC EVO also supports the 8 to 8 function where you can easily share your WiFi connection up to 8 different devices and users. Ideal when you need to tether your laptop, camera, video console or online gaming with friends.

- HTC EVOs revolutionary kickstand enables you to watch movies or videos without actually needing to hold it in your hands. Ideal for traveling.

- The HTC EVO has a removable battery while iPhone4 not. This is something that troubles many customers they need to ship the entire phone to Apples Service for battery problems.

- Both devices support 2.1 Bluetooth connection.

- Both devices support Google Satellite Maps but only the HTC EVO offers free Navigation System.

Both phones are remarkable with a massive list of impressive features. Even though HTC seems to be the leader with its larger screen, 4G network, 8MP camera analysis, powerful OS and processor, HDMI port and kickstand, the iPhone4 still manages to amaze everyone. Smaller size, sharper images due to Retina display, more intense colors, no pixels even in the closest zooms, plethora of apps, A4 Chip, fully upgraded iOS4 and more storage with less money, make the iPhone4 a must have. The final choice is yours.
